Quality is perceived differently by people. On a reference to the oxford dictionary we can find that quality is defined as 'degree of excellence'. This definition brings in a little bit of confusion in as much as one person's rating of 'excellence' may be just 'good' or 'very good' for another.To remove such ambiguity and also to have a definition acceptable globally, one of the definitions of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is 'totality of characteristics of an entity that bears on its ability to satisfy the stated and implied needs'. The key words in this definition are'characteristics, 'entity', 'stated' and 'implied needs'.
