Fifth meeting of Environment Protection and Waste Management Sectional Committee felt that India must participate actively at international level (ISO) of standardization particularly in the field of air and water pollution to take the benefits for improving the environment. Committee, therefore, requested BIS for taking immediate steps to upgrade the status of India member body on the following two ISO technical committees from O to P member: 1. ISO/TC146 Air quality 2. ISO/TC147 Water Quality. Committee also deliberated on the acute problems faced by our society/Committee, CHD 32 was held on 30 September 2005 in BIS Headquarters New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Prof Dilip Biswas, Ex-Chairman of Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi.
