The difference between a pond and a water feature is hard to define. It's like explaining the difference between a patch of grass and a lawn, and probably boils down to nothing more than attention to detail. In water-gardening terms, what turns a pondinto a full-blown water feature is down to how and what you plant. A new pond will eventually be colonised by aquatic plants even if you do nothing at all.
