摘要

Pecan trees can look good but be in serious water stress because they do not wilt. Many plants wilt as they run short of water. As horticulturists we talk about the temporary wilting point and then there is a permanent wilting point. The temporary wilting point is just that, temporary. When water arrives, roots absorb water and the tree recovers from the wilt and begins normal growth functions. The permanent wilting point is not so friendly. Once the soil moisture falls below 30 percent of its totalcapacity, roots die and growth stops.
