If Australian farmers accepted genetically modified crops and planted them widely they would net more than A8 billion (7.7 billion) during the next decade, according to government research. The federal government-funded Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE), in its latest of a series of reports advocating GM, says New South Wales and Western Australia would benefit the most from potentially yield-boosting and cost-cutting GM crops.
