Brazil's biosafety committee(CTNBio)on May 16 approved commercial sales of Bayer's Liberty Link(LL)transgenic corn variety for cultivation purposes.The Brazilian Association of Seed Producers pulled out all the stops in its campaign to gain approval of LL corn.In March the group released an estimate that delays had cost Brazil's agricultural sector 8 billion over the past eight years.Incessant lobbying by grain producers helped to nudge the CTNBio toward a favorable ruling.
