The federal government's approach for using toxicity testing to evaluate health and environmental risks from chemicals and other environmental agents has been cobbled together over time and is struggling to keep up with scientific advances,finds a new report by the National Research Council.The framework for toxicity testing faces a "turning point," according to the report,as regulators try.to revamp the system in order to take advantage of new and emerging technologies.
