Most uses of the organophosphate insecticide acephate will remain available as long as a wide range of mitigation measures are put in place, says EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs. Integrated pest management strategies will be added to public gradeschool and high school curricula as part of a collaboration between Penn State University and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Citing serious risk to bird populations in Florida and other states, several groups plan to sue EPA over the use ofthe organophosphate insecticide, fenthion.
