The European Union's new chemicals legislation REACH,which comes into force on June 1,represents a huge challenge for small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs),industry observers contend.According to Guido Lena,environmental policy director,of the European Association of Craft,Small and Medium-sized Enterprises(UEAPME),despite a couple of articles exempting SMEs from some obligations,REACH will place a major burden on micro and smaller companies in particular.
