Bt could spell "big trouble" in the years ahead if farmers aren't careful in their use of biotech corn,according to Purdue University entomologist Christian Krupke.Corn varieties containing Bacillus thuringiensis genes could become more susceptible to rootworms unless growers keep soybean fields free of volunteer corn and continue planting refuge acres,Krupke said in an interview published on Purdue's Ag Answers listserv.
