The European Commission is sitting on the results of a study of the low-level presence (LLP) of unauthorized transgenic material in conventional seeds in order to avoid legislating on the sensitive issue, Pesticide & Toxic Chemical News sister publication Agra Europe is reporting. Setting new workable thresholds for LLP of transgenic "dust" in conventional seeds could be put off until next year, industry sources fear, suspecting that the current commission is unwilling to move on the sensitive issue.
