The Consumer Defense Department of Brazil's justice ministry has pressed charges against a Brazilian soy processor for falsely labeling four of its products as"GMO-free."Brazil's biosafety law requires labeling of all food products with transgenic content of 1% or higher.Rankled by lack of enforcement of this provision,biotech opponents have conducted their own laboratory studies in order to detect labeling discrepancies.'
