When deciding on the most suitable and economic grinding system a number of important factors have to be taken into careful consideration such as the required capacity, particle size distribution, and not least developments in the different market places, says Andreas Rey of Buhler AG. Worldwide, it is recognised that feed represents the most significant cost of animal production. Depending on the animal species the estimated feed costs can vary from as low as approximately 40 per cent (fish) up to 70 per cent (poultry) or more of the total animal production cost.
