In Thess times of concern about the environment and mankins's influence on it, almost everyone has heard or read about issues such as the greenhouse effect, global warming and the threat to the ozone layer. If the taxi driver who took me across London recently is anything to go by, the general public are, however, often confused about these effects. Even scientists who specialize in other fields only vaguely unerstand the deteils of what causes greenhousewarming in the troposphere or ozone loss in the stratosphere.
