The CCDH consists of three volumes. Volume 1 addresses the planning andimplementation of command center projects. It describes the process of conducting a command center upgrade in accordance with current Joint Staff Policy, and provides a practical interpretation of this guidance and examples of different approaches to the task. It includes an annotated bibliography and examples of command center projects that provide useful information to planners engaged in projects of any size or scope. Volume 2, Command Center Spaces, provides an integrated view of command centers on space-by-space basis. Thirty-eight spaces that might be included in command centers are defined in term of the tasks they support. Staffing, activities, equipment, and other operational characteristics are listed, and the impact of these characteristics on the design of the space is discussed. Volume 3 looks at the technology that command centers are designed to support. A command center is a system in which four subsystems interoperate-communications, information processing, briefing and display, and facilities. Volume 3 devotes a section to each subsystem, and discusses the standards, technological capabilities and constraints, and equipment options available. This volume is a dynamic reference to emerging technologies to be implemented in command center upgrades or development.
