摘要

The kinetics of the TiO2-mediated photocatalyzed degradation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP), 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) and 2,4,5-trichlorophenol (2,4,5-TCP) have been investigated. The heterogeneous photodegradation of 4-CP proceeds through formation of intermediates which are subsequently rapidly and totally mineralized to CO2 and HC1. Hydroquinone (HQ) is the major intermediate. The dependence of the photodegradation rate of 4-CP in an annular photoreactor on the initial 4-CP concentration, (4-CP), shows that saturation coverage of the TiO2 particle surface-active sites is achieved, as no further increase in the rate of degradation is obtained with further increase in (4-CP). This indicates that the Langmuir-Hinshelwood (L-H) kinetic model appropriately describes the results; as required by this model, degradation occurs on the TiO2 particle surface.
