摘要

This report presents the results of a program to obtain and analyze data from the explosive demolition of buildings and apply the results to improving guidance for developing key worker shelters in urban areas. Five steel and reinforced concrete frame structures were investigated. The results of the program indicate that current shelter survey procedures are inadequate for determining either structural integrity or upgrading capability. Debris studies indicate depths approximately 50 percent greater than predicted by current guidance. Dust quantities generated by building collapse could have serious implications for shelterees either in the basement or in other shelters in the vicinity. (Author)
