This thesis investigates the economic characteristics of a fluidized-bed drying process. It focuses on the way in which fluid velocity impacts the capital and power consumption costs of such a system. The engineering and economic relationships employed in the model are developed and a sensitivity of the optimal design of a fluidized-bed drying process based on capital and operating cost is explored through variation in the technical parameters of the model.
