The primary objective of this study was to become familiar with centrifuge installations and modeling techniques employed in the design of foundations for structures under static and dynamic loading. In addition, attention was to be directed toward construction methods in seismic areas and the evaluation of various techniques that have been employed in this regard. To be added to these objectives is the information to be gained from the exposure to new (if not different) engineering methods, needs, and procedures. It is believed that all the objectives were amply satisfied, and the study could be characterized as an unqualified success.
