The report presents two studies on the comparative analysis of a U.S. and a Puerto Rican student group by their reactions to selected stimuli---verbal and pictorial. The first study involved a comparative analysis of the groups' subjective culture performed by two methods: word-stimulated and picture-stimulated associations. The second study explored the utility of word- and picture-stimulated associations in assessing the effects of communications---editorials and films---on U.S. and Puerto Rican groups. Before and after the presentation of the selected editorial or film, associations were obtained to indicator stimuli---key themes and pictures strategically chosen from the selected piece of communication.
