This report presents a life stress and illness model adduced from our life changes and illness research carried out over the past decade. Supporting data are presented from our previous studies of the men aboard three heavy cruisers, along with new data obtained from the Royal Norwegian Navy. Findings for Norwegian sailors closely approximated our previous results for the U.S. Navy men. Key methodologic issues are discussed. (Author)
