This article gives an account of a method of conducting gradient observations from a ship in ocean conditions, a method of calculating the turbulent flux of heat and the expenditure of heat on evaporation, and also the results of calculating these values in different latitude zones of the central part of the Pacific Ocean in the autumn-winter period, 1960 — 61.
