摘要

If secondary plastic deformation depresses the stress peak in the notch, then it obviously follows that the higher the ability of the metal to withstand repeated plastic deformation (i.e., the higher its cyclic toughness), the greater will be the ability of the metal to suppress stress peaks and, consequently, the lower its sensitivity to a stress concentrator's effects.nThus, the total longevity depends very heavily on the properties of the metal, the stress regimes, and the shape (type) of the specimen. In estimating the fatigue strength and longevity of equipment components, and in specifying the regimes under which they are to be loaded, these circumstances must be taken into consideration.
