This is the second progress report in partial fulfillment of U. S. Navy Contract NOw-65-Ol82-f, Project II, of "A Basic Study of the Sliding Contacts in Rolling Bearings". This project is a direct continuation of Project I of the same study, performed under U. S. Navy Contract N0w-64-0428-c. In the present reporting period, experimental work on Phases I and II of the project was continued using newly acquired apparatus.nPhase III of the project was concluded with a comprehensive data analysis of results previously gathered but not analyzed.
