To determine if variation of after-plate1 bake time and tempera-ture will eliminate hydrogen embrittlement obtained in a modified electroless nickel plating on two strength levels of SAE 4340 steel and on one strength level of H-11 tool steel. PROCEDURE: Notch tensile specimens were machined, per FrJ-10940-7, Figure 1. Thirty-three specimens were machined from one 1/2" dia. bar of SAE 4340 and twenty-one specimens" were machined from one 1/2" dia. bar of Vascojet 1000 tool steel.
