摘要

This paper describes the relative impact of the number of satellite altimeters used in the data assimilation portion of the U.S. Navy ocean prediction system. Using two different statistical and two different comparison methods, four different sets of results are evaluated. Much needed information is provided, regarding the ocean prediction accuracy that is achieved with satellite altimeters determined relative to in situ ocean observations.
