摘要

This study evaluated the ability of Emdogain (EMD) in combination with demineralized freeze dried bone (DFDBA) or demineralized dentin matrix (DDM) to enhance bone regeneration as well as the ability of these carriers to maintain EMD at the surgical site. Critical size defects were created in rat calvaria. In Part I of the experiments, varying amounts of EMD (1 mg, 3 mg, 9 mg) with DFDBA or DDM were placed in the defects. DFDBA, DDM, EMD alone, and propylene glycol served as controls (8 rats/group). Rats were euthanized at two and eight weeks. Histological analysis was used to score for the presence of carrier material and new bone formation. The data were analyzed using RIDIT analysis.
