摘要

This paper addresses the topic of operational deception and asserts its continued utility and feasibility in an age of increasingly high tech intelligence gathering and dissemination systems. The paper examines both the theory and historical tenets of successful deception operations. It then examines operational deception during Desert Storm to understand why deception continues to be effective. The paper concludes that deception operations are a combat multiplier that must be employed by the operational commander, and cautions the operational commander to be ever conscience of his adversary's use of deception to influence his decisions.
