摘要

The soils investigations clearly demonstrated large differences in texture and hydraulic properties between the topsoils and the argillic horizon and that these differences aligned with the visual differences in the soils. Topsoils featured high saturated hydraulic conductivities while conductivities in the B Horizon were highly variable but the majority of measurements were very low. Moisture release curves of the topsoils and the argillic were also very different. The textural and hydraulic data indicate that the argillic layer should impede infiltration fronts, hold water in the root zone, and cause perching of saturated lenses during larger rainstorms.
