摘要

This progress report describes activities for the period from February 1987 to February 1988 in five related subject areas. The areas of study reported on are the inhibition of photosynthesis during development of manganese toxicity in tobacco, evidence for effects on the in vivo activity of ribulose-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase during development of manganese toxicity, calcium stabilizes the light-induced Mn sup +3 in photosystem II membranes incompetent in water oxidation, the high affinity Ca sup +2 site required in photosynthetic O sub 2 evolution is created by the polynuclear Mn catalyst, and the isolation of PSII core complexes having high rates of oxygen evolution.
