Laser action at room temperature has been achieved in La sub 3 Ga sub 5 SiO sub 14 :Cr. The laser free running wavelength is 968 nm. The fluorescence quantum yield is 42% at room temperature. A large single crystal boule has been grown by the Czochralski method. 1 ref. (ERA citation 13:037325)
