A brief examination is made of measures taken to improve the cooling system of roller-hearth furnaces. Return heating system water is now used instead of service water, and a combined chamber layout is used instead of the former sectional water flow layout. Working conditions and the quality of heat treatment have been improved as a result of the redesign. (ERA citation 13:051526)
