This paper deals with a dynamic analysis of demand for appliances and electricity. In the first section a theoretical model is presented. Durables like cooker, washing mashine etc. and electricity are interpreted as inputs in a household production process. Next a dynamic version of PLS (partial least squares) - approach is developed which takes into account that the observed data are contaminated by measurement errors. In the third section the model is estimated using data on different types of households. The empirical results show that the most relevant determinants of residential demand for electricity are the price of appliances and the market price of those goods which can be produced by the household itself. The dynamic interrelationships among capital stock and electricity consumption should also be an important element of any reasonable energy model. (ERA citation 12:000670)
