It is shown that the experimental values of d mu d formation rate, obtained without taking into account the decay of the mu -molecular resonance compound ((d mu d)/sup +/dee)/sup */ back to the formation channel d mu +D/sub 2/, are underestimated.The correction depends on the rate of this resonance back decay and the rates of processes leading to fusion in d mu d. For their current estimates the correction significantly exceeds the experimental error of the uncorrected d mu d formation rate lambda/sub m//sup obs/ = 2.76 +- 0.08 mu s/sup -1/ reported recently. It is argued that back decay may lead to variation of lambda/sub m//sup obs/ with target density which may provide useful information on the parameters of muon-catalyzed fusion. 18 refs., 2 figs.
