A study was made of mathematical simulation of static characteristics of fractional separation on the basis of an established polynomial extraction equilibrium model for the TbCl sub 3 -DyCl sub 3 HCl-H sub 2 O/sub exp -1 / mol P204 kerosene system. With the aid of an established target function, this method was used to select the optimum process for separating Tb and experimental verification was carried out. The results of the mathematical simulation and the experimental simulation were compared and the relative error was found to be <1.6% for purity of Tb and Dy and <4.5% for yield.
