摘要

In a subchronic inhalation study, 2 groups of female, albino guinea pigs (15/group, strain not reported) were exposed to 1,1,1-trichloroethane at nominal concentrations of 0 or 1000 ppm for 7 hrs/day, 5 days/week for 4 weeks. No toxic signs or behavioral changes were observed in any of the animals either during or between exposures. There were significant differences between treated and control animals in the following: decreased relative liver weight (p < 0.001) and decreased absolute kidney weight (p < 0.001). There were no significant differences (p > 0.05) between treated and control animals in the following: mortality, final body weight, body weight gain, absolute liver weight, and relative kidney weight. There was some degree of chronic pneumonitis in nearly all of the guinea pigs with some animals in each group which had superimposed acute pneumonia (no significant differences observed between treated and control animals). Those portions of the lungs in treated animals not affected by the pneumonia showed no evidence of irritation by the vapor. No significant treatment-related abnormalities were found microscopically in any the livers or kidneys of treated animals.
