Expedient shelters were blast-tested by a conventional explosion equivalent to a 0.2 KT nuclear explosion. The estimated survivabilities in a large nuclear explosion are: (1) improved Small-Pole Shelter, 345 kPa (50 psi); (228) triangular entryway and blastdoor made of poles, 173 kPa (25 psi); (3) Chinese A-Frame Pole Shelter, 48 kPa (7 psi); and (4) lightly shored Pole-Covered Trench Shelters, 103 kPa.
