The present status of the technology and economics for the production of glucose,alcohol,and yeast from cellulose (wood),corn starch,and molasses is analyzed. The basic processes for producing glucose and the factors affecting the economics of its production are reviewed. The costs of producing ethanol and yeast from the glucose are derived. Market availability of glucose,ethanol,and yeast is surveyed. (ERA citation 04:032757)
