The concepts of Quality Assurance and Quality Control, developed over 40 years ago for high quantity production of hardware, are now routinely and effectively applied to complex, one-of-a-kind projects such as design and construction of nuclear power plants. Currently, Quality Assurance and Quality Control are being applied to projects where outputs are less tangible, e.g., software, services, technical judgements. To data, this latest application has resulted in some notable successes. (ERA citation 05:007497)
