Single particle distributions of pi exp + and pi exp - at large transverse momentum are analysed using various hard collision models: qq implies qq, qantiq implies MantiM, qM implies qM. The transverse momentum dependence at thetasub(cm) = 90 exp 0 is well described in all models except qantiq implies MantiM. This model has problems with the ratios (pp implies pi exp + +X)/( pi exp +- p implies pi exp 0 +X). Presently available data on rapidity distributions of pions in pi exp - p and pantip collisions are at rather low transverse momentum (however large xsub(perpendicular) = 2psub(perpendicular)/ sqrt s) where it is not obvious that hard collision models should dominate. The data, in particular the pi exp - / pi exp + asymmetry are well described by all models except qM implies Mq (CIM). At large values of transverse momentum significant differences between the models are predicted. (Atomindex citation 08:342286)
