摘要

Literature concerning radiation effects on silicate rock and limestone minerals was reviewed to provide a summary of available information on the effects of gamma radiation on these materials in a waste repository, and to make an evaluation of the need for additional experimental data.nThe work was composed primarily of a review of some general aspects of radiation damage and energy storage in solids, and of pertinent information on physical and chemical properties of rock-forming minerals, excluding halite.
