Summary of AI'S Participation in the LIFE-III Fuel Performance Code Development Effort: Part I. Evaluation of the LIFE-III Fuel Performance Code.
The main text of this report presents a critique of the LIFE-III theoretical model and its numerical implementation followed by recommendations for future efforts at AI. Detailed summaries of the model and its realization in code form as reconstructed from available documentation appear in two appendices and are used in support of the critique. Appendix I is the text of a critique of the LIFE-III code theoretical model distributed as IL 600-74-7216. Appendix II is a review of the LIFE-III code implementation and the numerical testing of its performance.
