摘要

The infrared spectra of YF3 and YF2 isolated in argon and nitrogen retraces have been measured in the region 40-800 cm-1. The fundamental frequency assignments in argon assuming C3v symmetry for YT3 are:V3(E), 663 cm"1;V2(A1), 119 cm-1;V4(E), 140 cm-1 with V1 unobserved. The frequency assignments for YF2 in nitrogen assuming C2v symmetry are V3 (B1), S38 cm-1;V1 (A1) 545 cm"1 and v2(A1), 134 cm-1. The results show that YF3 is easily reduced to YF2 in a tantalum Knudsen cell.
