摘要

This report consists of three parts: first, a nonrelativistic simulation of one-dimensional (1-d) counterstreaming plasmas;second, theory and numerical experiment for 1-d relativistic counterstreaming plasmas;and third, the application of the results of the first two parts to Colgate's supernova model of cosmic ray acceleration.nThe 1-d simulation model used in Parts I and II involves integrating the relativistic 15 equations of motion for up to 2 plane charged sheets moving perpendicular to their faces under the influence of electrostatic forces only. In spite of the omission of radiation, the model is physically self-consistent. Both electron and ion sheets are included. The model simulates two infinite, homogeneous, counterstreaming plasmas of equal density moving with velocities ±v0;periodic boundary conditions are imposed.nCollisional effects in the model are discussed in both the nonrelativistic and relativistic cases.
