摘要

The papers included in this collection are based on materials obtained in long-term investigations at the Serebryanyi Bor experimental forest (Zvenigorod District, Moscow Region), one of the research bases of the Silvicultural Laboratory of the State Committee for Timber, Cellulose and Paper, Woodworking Industry and Forest Management (formerly the Forest Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR). Long-term investigations in this forest began in 1945 but the small number of scientific personnel necessitated limitation to a single forest type (pine with mountain ash and filbert) and mostly to phytocenotic observations. The volume of work was considerably expanded from 1957 on. Investigations of other forest types were started (pine with oak and filbert, oak + linden with maple and filbert, linden with hairy sedge, aspen with oak and filbert, and in pine plantations of different ages and densities) and were partially extended also to the adjacent Podushkinskoe forestry, where there are still some complex spruce stands, types indigenous to upland water divides. The work became more diversified, and to a larger extent biogeocenotic. Besides geobotanists, there participated pedologists, zoologists, physiologists, microbiologists, and silviculturists.
