摘要

In this thesis the attachment of radon decay products to aerosols is investigated. The theoretical treatment of this problem (solution of the relevant diffusion equations) had already been carried out by several authors. The solution process is therefore indicated only briefly, and only in order to give a clear idea of the assumptions made. Starting from the precise solution of the diffusion equation, all the parameters involved are dis¬cussed for the first time. Next are investigated all the possible means of simplifying the derived equations for the attachment coefficients, in order to find how they deviate from the exact value. The theoretical treatment of the attachment processes includes the description of a method of measuring the total concentration and the relevant size spectrum of an aerosol, and the estimate of the attachment time of radioactive decay products to a mixture of various particle sizes. In all the calculations a firm distinction is for the first time drawn between the attachment of neutral and of electrically charged radioactive decay products.
