摘要

In reviewing the experimental values available for the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) and attempting to specify quality correction factors (QF) for application in radiation protection, the Subcommittee found that these values would be of limited usefulness if presented independently of the manner in which dose-effect modification factors were to be used in practical radiation protection. It was deemed desirable to characterize an individual's entire cumulative exposure status by a single number.
