1. A comparison of incubation time at 30°C for determining the incidence of Cl. botulinum in enrichment cultures has shown that the largest number of samples containing botulinum toxins will be obtained by assaying enrichment cultures after 3 days of incubation at 30°C. Longer periods of incubation at this temperature resulted in the loss of toxicity in most of the samples.n2. A comparison of incubation temperatures for determining the incidence of £1 botulinum in marine sediments has shown that 917. of the enrich ment cultures incubated at 25°C contained Type E toxin whereas only 69% of the samples incubated at 30°C contained Type E toxin.
