For the past several years, Joe Machurek had the opportun¬ity of welcoming you on behalf of the A.E.C. to the annual Process Radiation Contractors Meeting. Since the last meeting, the Division of Isotopes Development has undergone a reorganization which now permits me to make these opening remarks. I want to thank Joe in absentia for his previous contribution to the pro¬gram and for his continuing assistance to our efforts, and I know that you all join me in this expression of appreciation.nThe Process Radiation Program has had an exciting year, thanks to your efforts. We are at last seeing one project reaching the status of impending commercialization, and we hope that another is not far behind. From the A.E.C. point of view, we have been active in trying to draw industry into a more active role in the program, both by participating in development projects and by utilizing the technology which you are generating. Unfort-unately, our budgetary level has remained essentially constant, and the effect has been to reduce the over-all number of contracts which we support. Nonetheless, I think that we can feel honored to have some of the best physicists and chemists in the country working on the program.
