摘要

The properties of the simple lognormal distribution and methods of estimating its parameters from a set of experimental results are described, and illustrated with examples from the field of radiation protection. Extensions of the distribution to more complicated cases are mentioned. Discussion of the relevant details of the normal distribution and of sampling theory is included. Consideration of the use of the distribution is recommended for experimental data which are asymmetrically distributed.
